August 1, 2006 the Arizona Rural Schools Association announced that Lowanna Perry is their Maricopa County Teacher of the Year. The association's director, Bill Stewart, said the judges had a very difficult time in selecting this year's county winners because a record number of nominations had been made. Miss Perry was one of seven finalists for the Arizona Teacher of the Year. Miss Perry will be starting her tenth year of teaching primary grades at Morristown School this fall. She coaches volleyball and basketball and has many special interests that keep her classroom exciting including technology integration, outdoor education and literacy. Congratulations Miss Perry!!!

In March 2001, Miss Perry was featured on the Project Venture website. ...Lowanna feels fortunate that her students were able to remember so many of the finer points of typing and drawing in Word from last year and apply them to a creative writing project in PowerPoint this year. Students are working in groups to write "Winter Stories" about snowmen. They then use PowerPoint to illustrate their stories and present the text for a classroom presentation....
