New School Building begins its Eighth Year The End of August!!!

160 STUDENTS ENROLLED

The School Facilities Board approved the recommendation of their staff to fund a new school building for Morristown School Campus in the early stages of the Students First monies being available to schools. The new facility is constructed on the existing campus and replaces the 70 year old plus building, as well as two over 100 years old buildings and several portables.

The Building Gift Fund has topped $30,000.00, this will help provide special items in the new building. The district is attempting to raise enough funds to add to that are available from School Facilities Board Funds. $200,000.00 would enable the school to add a permanent stage to the multipurpose room. The Building is designed with reinforcement in the area where a stage could go. All that is needed is the addtional construction cost funds. There are very strict regulations on the SFB funds but they will allow a district to use their own funds, if available, to enhance the buildings constructed. Since many of our current buildings are over 100 years old and without major renovation, we  constructed a very educationally sound building that will also last for many years. Every little bit helps this small rural district.

If you wish to help, Donations may be made to the Morristown School District No. 75 Building Gift Fund; P.O. Box 98; Morristown, AZ 85342. Help us make this page change!

The school was opened in 1915 and officially established July 1, 1916. Aside from a small classroom size multipurpose room, the school has never had a multipurpose building before 2001. The students who attend yearned for an inside facility during the rainy season and during the brutally hot summer and spring months. Now they have one and a beautiful one at that.

State funding formulas, usually based on a per pupil amount, have never yielded enough to do anything but put in a small shed. Students First legislation has opened School Facilities Funding, for which Morristown School has applied and was granted.
