The Track is open to the public during non-school hours.  Staff has already made use of it for lunch time health walks.

Morristown Elementary School District No. 75 Governing Board voted to sell two parcels of land West of Phoenix Highway (Grand Avenue) the opposite side of the highway from the current school. One parcel is just short of five acres and the other just over one acre. Neither parcel is suitable for educational purposes.  Currently no offers have been received and this district is waiting for a better market to make another offering.

The smaller parcel was advertised in The Wickenburg SUN January 18 and January 25, with a bid deadline date of February 28. The minimum bid on this parcel is $24,500.00. The larger parcel is valued well over the amount which requires the district to hold an election to allow sale. Morristown School was Awarded one of the major grants from the Environmental Licence Plate Fund.
This provided funds for phase two of the long desired desert trail on the school grounds, within the 15 acres of Sonoran Desert on the school grounds adjacent to the current site. The Plan fits with the adopted Master Plan of the site by Talus-Taos Planners and Architects. It reserves 7 acres for a two mile trail utilizing the positive aspects of the site. Native species habitats have been constructed by the students. It is now part of the school's Master Plan. Members of the Arizona Pioneers of Lucent Technology Volunteers worked with the project as well as Deborah Hamilton, Master Gardner, students, teachers and parents, and members of the Sun City Grand Hikers Club.

    About Our School
Morristown Elementary is a small school in rural Maricopa County. Our population is largely moderate income. We feel we have a wonderful school, qualifying as a model over the years in a number of areas. Areas of recognition included our visual arts program(which continues to be grow and become more well known), foreign language taught grades kindergarten through eight, a K-3 After School Safe and Drug Free Program that was listed as a model in the Promising Practices publication commissioned by our State Legislature, and now an after school Technology/Arts Safe and Drug Free School program, grades K through 8. Our Gifted program has been used as an example by the Arizona Department of Education and the Michigan State Department of Education requested a copy of our Gifted Scope and Sequence for their small schools.

While we feel we excel in our offering academically, due to our size and demographics funding from local taxes is difficult. We built a new building with Students First funds but would like to enhance this building from our Building Gift Fund. Our dream is to have enough donated to this fund to be able to enhance the multi-purpose room with a stage area, as part of the new building from Students' First Funds, that will expand opportunities in a number of areas: The Arts. physical education, adaptive physical education, more room for our fabulous lunch program, etc.

You can help this small school attain its great dream by supporting this fund.
