Awards at CHCS

 

 

Matthew J. DeWelt Christian Character Award

 

  • The recipient of this award is a member of the senior class who displays the character of Christ in all aspects of their life. 
  • Three students are nominated by the senior class and approved by the administration. 
  • The entire high school student body then votes on the recipient.
  • Announced at the Annual Academic Banquet
  • Recipient accepts the award at baccalaureate 
  • Recipient walks with distinguished graduates at graduation

 

 

Valedictorian

 

  • The recipient(s) of this award must have met the requirements of an Honors Diploma at CHCS
  • Awarded to all students with a C.G.P.A. of 4.0 at graduation or the student with the highest C.G.P.A.
  • Recipient(s) address the graduating class during commencement
  • Recipient(s) walk with distinguished graduates at graduation

 

 

Salutatorian

 

  • Award is given only if one student is awarded valedictorian
  • The recipient of this award must have met the requirements of an Honors Diploma at CHCS
  • Awarded to the student with the second highest C.G.P.A. at graduation
  • Recipient addresses the graduating class during commencement
  • Recipient walks with distinguished graduates at graduation

 

 

Departmental Awards

 

  • The faculty of each academic department at CHCS nominates the outstanding student in the department.
  • Science, Mathematics, Social Studies, English, Bible, Foreign Language, Music, Business, and Art
  • Recipient must be a junior or senior student
  • Overall G.P.A. of 2.80
  • Outstanding performance in the departmental area
  • Evidence of application of the expertise outside of school (contests, volunteer work, etc.)
  • An individual cannot be the recipient of more than two awards in one year
  • Awarded to the recipients at the Annual Academic Banquet

 

 

 

 

ACSI Distinguished Christian Character Award

 

  • Top 10% of the junior and senior class in the following areas
  • Academics
  • Students with the top C.G.P.A. in each class
  • Christian Service
  • Student must have a clear Christian service and Christian testimony
  • Leadership
  • Student must be actively involved in community service
  • Athletic
  • Student must be actively participating in a CHCS athletic team
  • Fine Arts
  • Student must be actively participating in CHCS activities of band, choir, drama or art
  • Must have a minimum of 2 teacher recommendations
  • Approval of the administration

 

 

4.0 Excellence Award

 

  • Students who earn straight A grades in all classes for the year
  • Based upon 1st semester, 3rd quarter, and mid-4th quarter grades
  • Awarded at the Annual Academic Banquet

 

 

Wendy’s High School Heisman Award

 

  • A CHCS scholar/athlete
  • Have academic aptitude
  • Have athletic talent
  • Have exceptional commitment to school and community
  • One male and one female senior student is chosen
  • Recipients are nominated to the State level competition for possible advancement to the National competition
  • Recipients are recognized at the Annual Academic Banquet

 

 

Academic High Honors

 

  • All students who earn 3.70 – 4.0 G.P.A.
  • No grades lower than a B (3.0)
  • Awarded at quarter and semester intervals

 

 

Academic Honors

 

  • All students who earn 3.00 – 3.69 G.P.A.
  • No grades lower than a B (3.0)
  • Awarded at quarter and semester intervals

 

 

George Washington Carver Award
